When you say GOODBYE, we say HELLO!
Said to have been the first major project for architect John Power, construction started in 1852 for Donald McIntosh, a ship owner, who promised his family a ‘castle with a view of Lake Ontario’ to entice them to move from Scotland. It was completed by successive owners, and the tower was added after 1878. The building is a Gothic Revival village built on an L-shaped plan with the octagonal tower set in its corner.
With stunning views of City Park and the County Courthouse, McIntosh Castle is unique to Kingston, but blends in beautifully in the Sydenham Ward Heritage District. Walking distance to downtown, the waterfront, Queen’s University and hospitals, this whimsical and stately home is the home of OYB's future sale!
